Fun fall tree craft.

I saw this craft at 1+1+1=1, and had to do with Monkey and Bug.

Notice that only 1 tree? Well that's because Bug didn't want to do the craft.  I thought he would be the one to do the craft and Monkey would start it and then run around us while Bug finished up.  Monkey did an amazing job on his fall tree. Tomorrow we will make a leaf person that I found on another blog.  I'll post that tomorrow!
Happy Fall,
Cassidy

Science

So far both the boys are enjoying our science curriculum.  We are doing unit studies on insects and birds, and nature study too.
Here they are observing part of the "Lazarus Experiment". We submerged a Roley Polly in water for 2 mins.  Took it out, covered it in salt, carefully blew the salt off, and watched to see if the Roley Polly would come back to "life".  Amazingly it did! We were able to attend our local aquarium's home school days and they both loved it. They can't wait to go again, the highlight of the trip was seeing the divers.  We have set a family of goal of learning to dive once the boys are old enough to get certified.  They also enjoyed the hands-on experiences including touching a shark! Happy science teaching :)

Our 1ST week

Our first week of the 2010-2011 school is completed!  I am loving the curriculum we chose this year.  Last year we were with a charter school, while it was nice to have funds for curriculum, I had the input of a education specialist, who stirred me into choicses that just were not a good fit for Bug.  It is so nice to actually like the curriculum.  I asked Bug yesterday how he is liking school so far.  He said he really likes it.  I asked him what is favorite part is, and our am devotional is his favorite part.  He went on to name everything that we are doing as his favorite part.  I asked if there is anything that we are doing that isn't so much his favorite, and he said he really likes everything.  I am so glad that he is really liking it!

I am finding it challenging to school Bug with Monkey running around.  I am collecting more for him to do and checking out other blogs for ideas.  So far I am loving what 2 teaching mommies has.  Lesson plans right there and FREE printalbes, I don't have to plan anything ( a big plus for me since most of my time goes to planning for Bug.)  the only  prep time I have is the quick read on the blog, finding a book or 2, and printing out the FREE printables off the blog!  They have great sprictures to go with each week.  I just started the first week with Monkey and Bug wanted to get in on the action too.  They both made the shape body.

All in all I think our first week was a sucess and I know that we will find more and more of a groove with each school day!
